Market Alert: Putin Meets Trump in Alaska: A Cold Front for Market Volatility or Calm?
TPG Telecom Limited (ASX: TPG) has acknowledged a cyber event where iiNet’s order management system was accessed without authorisation. The breach, detected on 16 August 2025, was traced to stolen employee credentials. TPG promptly enacted its incident response plan, secured the system, and engaged external cybersecurity experts.
Preliminary findings show the breach was limited to iiNet’s order system, which does not store identity documents or financial information. However, data accessed included approximately 280,000 active email addresses, 20,000 landline numbers, 10,000 customer details, and 1,700 modem set-up passwords. TPG is directly contacting affected customers, providing guidance and support, and informing unaffected customers for reassurance.
The company has notified the Australian Cyber Security Centre, the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, and other key authorities about the incident. TPG emphasised that no evidence suggests its broader systems or other customer data were compromised
