Viridis Mining and Minerals: Powering a Rare Earths Supply Revolution

Viridis Mining and Minerals Ltd, through its joint venture Viridion with Ionic Rare Earths, is spearheading the development of a sovereign rare earths supply chain outside China. After achieving successful refining and recycling capabilities in Brazil, the company now plans to establish a U.S.-based rare earth oxide refinery. This facility will process high-grade feedstock from Viridis’ flagship Colossus Project in Brazil, using Ionic Technologies' proprietary separation method. The Colossus Project offers premium-grade mixed rare earth carbonate (MREC), noted for its high purity and economic robustness. Backed by Brazil’s AU$1.4 billion Strategic Minerals Program, Viridis is building a vertically integrated supply chain, supplying critical materials for defence, EVs, and renewable energy. With a pre-feasibility study due by Q2 2025 and active offtake and financing discussions, Viridis is set to play a pivotal role in securing Western access to rare earths, ensuring sustainable, traceable, and resilient global supply.
