Western Yilgarn Limited (ASX: WYX) has made a significant discovery of surface gallium mineralisation at its Ida Holmes Junction Project in Western Australia, reinforcing its strategic role in the critical minerals sector. The maiden helicopter-borne reconnaissance program identified high-grade gallium zones, with rock chip assays reaching 195.5 g/t Ga (262.79 g/t Ga₂O₃). This mineralisation remains open in all directions, indicating strong potential for further extensions.

The project is situated 50 km southwest of Gold Fields’ Agnew Gold Mine, near major mining hubs and within a geologically favourable zone intersecting the Holmes Dyke and Mt Ida Fault. Western Yilgarn also holds a gallium-focused license at the New Norcia Bauxite-Gallium Project, complementing its strategic exploration portfolio. With global gallium demand accelerating for semiconductors and green technologies, the company is planning extensive follow-up soil and rock chip programs to expand the defined mineralisation and advance its position in the emerging critical minerals supply chain
