Whitebark Energy Advances Drilling Plans for Major Alinya Project

Whitebark Energy Limited (ASX: WBE) is progressing its high-potential Alinya Project in the Officer Basin with promising developments. The company, in collaboration with Zenith Energy, has finalized preliminary well design and rig market evaluations for the large Rickerscote prospect, which spans over 180 km² and could extend to 400 km². The anticipated cost of drilling to a depth of 2,400 meters is estimated at AU$7.7 million. Whitebark has begun securing drilling rigs and plans to start exploration operations in the latter half of 2026, subject to necessary regulatory clearances.

The Rickerscote prospect, a massive sub-salt structure, could unlock a new resource frontier in Australia, with potential yields of hydrogen, helium, and hydrocarbons. The project is set to enhance Australia’s energy independence while expanding its potential to supply key Asian energy markets. According to Executive Director Richard King, the project represents a low-cost, game-changing opportunity for Australia’s clean energy landscape.
