Market Alert: Gold and Silver Extend Bull Run Amid Global Uncertainty

ASX/200 Closed Higher by 0.10%, Lifted by Energy

By the end of trading session on 25 September 2025, benchmark index S&P/ASX 200 closed 0.10% higher at 8,773.00. Out of 11 sectors, 03 sectors ended higher along with the S&P/ASX 200.

Energy and Materials were the top-gaining sectors, gaining 1.90% and 1.55% in their values. On the other hand, Consumer Staples and Healthcare were the top-losing sectors, losing 0.75% and 0.61% in their values

Capstone Copper Corp. (ASX: CSC) and Sandfire Resources Limited (ASX: SFR) are the top-gaining stocks, gaining 10.746% and 7.565% in their stock prices. On the other hand, Catalyst Metals Limited (ASX: CYL) and Westgold Resources Limited (ASX: WGX) are the top-losing stocks, losing 7.776% and 5.406% in their stock prices.

Other Factors influencing the market:

  • Premier Investments Limited (ASX: PMV) gained more than 2% in early trading but eventually closed 0.2% lower at $20.34 after posting results from continuing operations.
  • Reece Limited (ASX: REH) led declines in the industrials sector, sliding 2.2% to $11.54. Seven Group Holdings (ASX: SVW), which confirmed that chairman Terry Davis will retire next year, eased 1.8% to $49.96.
  • Macquarie Group Limited (ASX: MQG) lost 1.2% to $215.87 following news that it will return $321 million to investors in Shield Master Trust through its superannuation wrap platform, as part of a settlement with the corporate regulator.
  • In commodities, gold prices fell as the US dollar index climbed to its highest level since September 11, pressuring dollar-denominated bullion.
  • Oil posted its strongest gain since July, climbing above US$64 a barrel, after hawkish comments from US President Donald Trump on Russia pushed futures past a key technical threshold.
  • Global equity markets showed mixed results. In the US, the Dow Jones Industrial Average slipped 0.37%, the S&P 500 dropped 0.28%, and the Nasdaq Composite fell 0.33%. In Asia and Europe, the Hang Seng declined 0.20%, while London’s FTSE 100 eased 0.17%.
