Market Alert: Gold and Silver Extend Bull Run Amid Global Uncertainty

ASX/200 Closed Higher by 0.40%, Lifted by Materials

By the end of trading session on 23 September 2025, benchmark index S&P/ASX 200 closed 0.40% higher at 8,845.90. Out of 11 sectors, 08 sectors ended higher along with the S&P/ASX 200.

Materials and Financial were the top-gaining sectors, gaining 0.86% and 0.63% in their values. On the other hand, A-REIT and Consumer Staples were the top-losing sectors, losing 0.34% and 0.29% in their values

Telix Pharmaceuticals Limited (ASX: TLX) and Lynas Rare Earths Limited (ASX: LYC) are the top-gaining stocks, gaining 9.200% and 8.044% in their stock prices. On the other hand, Vault Minerals Limited (ASX: VAU) and Premier Investments Limited (ASX: PMV) are the top-losing stocks, losing 4.348% and 3.785% in their stock prices.

Other Factors influencing the market:

  • Myer Holdings Limited (ASX: MYR) slumped 25% to 48¢ after reporting a 30% fall in annual net profit to $36.8 million, missing market forecasts. The department store chain also announced it would not pay a final dividend.
  • Premier Investments Limited (ASX: PMV) was also under pressure, ranking among the weakest performers on the ASX 200. Its shares slipped 3.8% to $20.34.
  • In contrast, Telix Pharmaceuticals Limited (ASX: TLX) posted strong gains, climbing 9.2% to $16.38. The rally followed news that the U.S. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services approved transitional pass-through payment status for its prostate cancer imaging product, Gozellix.
  • Gold continued its upward momentum, setting a new all-time high as investors looked past cautious remarks from U.S. Federal Reserve officials. The metal’s rally came on the heels of last week’s interest rate cut by the central bank.
  • Oil prices moved lower as traders assessed the European Union’s latest sanctions on Russian energy players and Ukrainian strikes on the OPEC+ member’s infrastructure.
  • Global equity markets delivered a mixed performance. In the U.S., the Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 0.14%, the S&P 500 added 0.44%, and the Nasdaq Composite advanced 0.70%. 
  • Meanwhile, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index dropped 0.84%.
