By the end of trading session on 24 September 2025, benchmark index S&P/ASX 200 closed 0.40% lower at 8,764.50. Out of 11 sectors, 09 sectors ended lower along with the S&P/ASX 200.

Utilities and Energy were the top-gaining sectors, gaining 0.53% and 0.26% in their values. On the other hand, Financial and Healthcare were the top-losing sectors, losing 1.76% and 1.29% in their values

Droneshield Limited (ASX: DRO) and Pilbara Minerals Limited (ASX: PLS) are the top-gaining stocks, gaining 6.214% and 5.240% in their stock prices. On the other hand, Telix Pharmaceuticals Limited (ASX: TLX) and Atlas Arteria (ASX: ALX) are the top-losing stocks, losing 5.617% and 5.493% in their stock prices.

  • Deterra Royalties Limited (ASX: DRR) gained 2.2% to AU$4.19 after confirming the sale of its non-core gold offtake assets, including its St Ives and Dandoko royalties, to Vox Royalties for US$60 million (AU$91 million).
  • Gold hovered just below record territory after three consecutive days of gains, as traders weighed comments from US Federal Reserve officials—including Chair Jerome Powell—alongside heightened geopolitical risks linked to Russia.
  • The Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) cautioned that the ASX needs to overhaul its governance, cultural practices, and risk management framework in its clearing and settlement operations, which it described as vital to the stability of the country’s financial system.
  • Global equities delivered mixed results overnight. In the US, the Dow Jones Industrial Average slipped 0.19%, while the S&P 500 advanced 0.55% and the Nasdaq Composite rose 0.95%.
  • Meanwhile, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng gained 1.01%, and London’s FTSE 100 edged down 0.04%.
