By the end of trading session on 10 October 2025, benchmark index S&P/ASX 200 closed 0.13% lower at 8,958.30. Out of 11 sectors, 03 sectors ended lower along with the S&P/ASX 200.

Information Technology and Consumer Discretionary were the top-gaining sectors, gaining 1.11% and 0.73% in their values. On the other hand, Materials and Energy were the top-losing sectors, losing 2.10% and 0.73% in their values.

Temple & Webster Group Limited (ASX: TPW) and Netwealth Group Limited (ASX: NWL) are the top-gaining stocks, gaining 8.666% and 7.591% in their stock prices. On the other hand, Genesis Minerals Limited (ASX: GMD) and Regis Resources Limited (ASX: RRL) are the top-losing stocks, losing 5.646% and 5.482% in their stock prices.

  • Mineral Resources Limited (ASX: MIN) declined 1.2% to $44.14 after reports surfaced that founder Chris Ellison had lost a key ally in the boardroom. Director Zimi Meka became the sixth board member to step down within six months, raising concerns over leadership stability at the mining services and lithium group.
  • L1 Capital Limited (ASX: L1C) surged 16.2% to $1.04 after Bell Potter raised its price target by 30%. The stock advanced nearly 50% over the week, buoyed further by comments from stockbroker Angus Aitken, who described the fund manager as a “free cash machine” with potential to reach $2 per share.
  • Meanwhile, spot silver prices climbed to their highest level in decades amid strong safe-haven demand and tightening supplies in the London bullion market.
  • Crude oil prices eased slightly as investor sentiment improved with easing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, while broader markets adopted a more cautious tone.
  • In the global equities space, the Dow Jones Industrial Average slipped 0.52%, the S&P 500 declined 0.28%, and the Nasdaq Composite edged down 0.08%. 
  • Across major international markets, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index fell 1.59%, while London’s FTSE 100 dropped 0.41%.
