Japanese Giant Backs Australia’s Copi Project with Strategic Investment

Japanese firm JX Advanced Metals Corporation has entered into a strategic agreement to invest $20 million in Australian critical minerals explorer RZ Resources Limited, with further options to contribute $5 million more and an additional $5 million through convertible funding. At the time of writing, this deal marks a significant vote of confidence in RZ Resources’ Copi Project, located in western New South Wales.

Deepening Ties in the Critical Minerals Supply Chain

RZ Resources Limited (unlisted) is positioning its Copi Project as a globally significant and geopolitically strategic source of critical minerals. Founder David Fraser described the partnership as a reflection of shared long-term goals. “This is more than a financial investment – it’s a deep strategic partnership,” he said, underlining the project's importance in diversifying and securing global supply chains.

The collaboration aligns with broader international efforts to reduce dependence on limited critical mineral sources and build resilient supply routes in democratic nations like Australia.

Copi Project’s High-Value Output Potential

Pending final planning approvals in New South Wales, the Copi Project is expected to yield a mix of high-demand mineral outputs. These include titanium feedstocks such as rutile, leucoxene, and ilmenite, along with ceramic-grade zircon and rare earth element concentrates suitable for downstream refining.

These outputs are crucial for various industries including aerospace, electronics, and renewable energy technologies—further elevating the project’s strategic appeal.

Strengthening Australia's Role in Global Mineral Supply

This investment strengthens Australia's reputation as a reliable and strategic partner in the global critical minerals sector. With the support of JX Advanced Metals, RZ Resources is now better positioned to fast-track the development of the Copi Project and help meet rising global demand for secure mineral supply.
