Ark Mines Secures MoU for Trial of Monazite Ore Processing to Extract Thorium and Rare Earth Elements
Ark Mines Limited (ASX: AHK) has entered into an agreement to begin a trial at its Sandy Mitchell Rare Earths Project in Queensland, where it will process monazite ore to extract thorium and rare earth elements. The trial, scheduled for February 2026, will focus on recovering Thorium, Neodymium, and Praseodymium using a low-cost cracking process. The MoU outlines the scope from the initial ore cracking through to the extraction of Thorium and rare earth oxides, including Neodymium and Praseodymium. These minerals are crucial for energy production, advanced technologies, and defence applications. The successful trial will help de-risk the project and assess the potential for a pilot-scale facility.
