Impact Minerals Limited (ASX: IPT) announced that its 50%-owned associate, Alluminous Pty Ltd, has completed the first major technical milestone under its collaboration with New York-based battery technology company C4V. The project confirmed that Alluminous’ High Purity Alumina (HPA) can be engineered to meet the particle-size and morphology requirements for lithium-ion battery separator coatings while maintaining its high chemical purity. The team also successfully developed a stable, sodium-free, water-based slurry, supporting its suitability for advanced battery applications.
Following this achievement, the collaboration will advance into battery architecture development, separator coating optimisation and electrochemical testing using full battery cells. The companies also plan to strengthen commercial engagement as they pursue qualification opportunities within the North American battery supply chain. Management believes the successful milestone enhances confidence in Alluminous’ commercial potential and moves the project closer to future customer qualification and commercial supply discussions.
