RareX Advances to Final Tender Stage for Kenya's Mrima Hill Project
RareX Limited (ASX: REE) has achieved a significant strategic milestone after the RareX–Iluka Consortium was shortlisted to the Request for Proposal (RFP) stage for the development of the Mrima Hill Niobium and Rare Earths Project in Kenya. The consortium's proposal combines mining, initial processing and local value creation in Kenya with downstream refining at Iluka Resources' Eneabba Rare Earths Refinery in Western Australia, which is supported by a AU$1.65 billion Australian Government non-recourse loan and is scheduled for commissioning in 2027. A binding offtake agreement is already in place for all rare earth concentrate produced at Mrima Hill, providing a defined pathway into western supply chains across the United States, Europe, Japan and South Korea. Backed by a AU$50 million funding facility and supported by leading technical partners, the consortium will now prepare its detailed RFP submission, marking an important step towards securing one of Africa's most significant rare earth development opportunities.
