Octava Minerals Launches First Drilling in 50 Years at High-Grade Sweeney’s Polymetallic Prospect
Octava Minerals Limited (ASX: OCT) has commenced its first drilling campaign in nearly five decades at the Sweeney’s Prospect, part of the Federation Project in western Tasmania. Historic drilling recorded strong sulphide mineralisation, including a notable interval of 23m at 1.2% copper, 1.7% zinc, 121 g/t silver and 1.17% tin, which remains open and underexplored. Recent rock-chip sampling also revealed exceptionally high grades of previously untested indium, returning up to 860 ppm.
The new 2,000m diamond drilling program is designed to test structural feeder zones that may host economic base-metal sulphides and to begin defining tonnage and grade potential. Located just west of Zeehan within a highly mineralised geological setting, Sweeney’s is considered a priority target for Octava. Drilling is expected to continue into early 2026, with first assay results anticipated in Q1.
