Ainsworth Secures Patent Licence Deal with Aristocrat
Ainsworth Game Technology Limited (ASX: AGI) has entered into an agreement with Aristocrat Technologies Australia and Aristocrat Technologies, Inc. to licence selected Aristocrat patents and resolve potential claims associated with their historical use in Australia. The agreement provides Ainsworth with greater certainty as it pursues its growth strategy in the Australian market.
The arrangement covers key gaming features, including Aristocrat’s Hold & Spin patent family, allowing Ainsworth to use these features across its branded electronic gaming machines and online and mobile games in Australia. It also includes pass-through rights for customers, distributors and venues. Importantly, Ainsworth receives a royalty-free licence covering Aristocrat’s responsible gaming patents, including digital wallets, player limits, self-exclusion and AI-based risk detection. Under the agreement, Ainsworth will pay Aristocrat A$8.5 million in instalments over three and a half years. Both companies have also agreed to mutual releases and non-challenge provisions covering the licensed patents.
