AuKing Mining Expands Malawi Footprint with Strategic Critical Minerals Acquisition
AuKing Mining Limited (ASX: AKN) has agreed to acquire 100% of Green Exploration Limited (GEL), expanding its critical minerals footprint in Malawi. The transaction adds the Machinga Heavy Rare Earths, Salambidwe Rare Earths, Ngala Hill Copper/PGE and Karonga Copper projects to AuKing’s portfolio. The acquisition remains subject to ASX confirmation and other applicable regulatory approvals.
The acquired assets offer exposure across rare earths, copper and platinum group elements. Historical exploration at Salambidwe returned rock-chip grades of up to 2.05% TREO, while Ngala Hill recorded trenching results including 64 metres at 1.41 g/t PGE+Au and 1,430 ppm copper. Karonga represents an early-stage copper exploration opportunity.
Following completion, AuKing plans to systematically evaluate and prioritise the GEL portfolio while advancing exploration at Machinga, Salambidwe, Ngala Hill and Karonga. The company is fully funded to commence exploration and is also considering a copper-focused spin-off to potentially unlock shareholder value.
