Metallium Secures First Commercial Deal to Advance Processing-as-a-Service Strategy
Metallium Limited (ASX: MTM) has secured its first commercial Technology Services Agreement, marking a significant step in commercialising its proprietary Flash Joule Heating (FJH) platform. The 12-month agreement with Environmental Clean Technologies (ASX: ECT) will evaluate the use of FJH technology for producing MXenes, advanced materials used in defence, electronics, energy storage and other high-performance applications. Under the Phase 1 arrangement, Metallium could receive up to US$1.4 million in cash, along with 20 million ECT options subject to shareholder approval.
The agreement establishes Metallium’s Processing-as-a-Service business model, allowing the company to generate revenue through engineering support, technology access and future licensing opportunities while retaining ownership of its intellectual property. If the research programme achieves its objectives, both companies may negotiate a longer-term commercial licensing and royalty agreement, creating an additional pathway for recurring revenue alongside Metallium’s core metals recovery operations.
