Gold Hydrogen Limited (ASX: GHY) has reported encouraging interim results from appraisal flow testing at its Ramsay 1 well on South Australia’s Yorke Peninsula, marking a significant step towards potential commercial helium production. The company successfully flowed helium to the surface, purified and bottled it onsite, achieving a technical milestone not seen in Australia since the Darwin helium plant ceased operations in 2023. Testing also confirmed a highly productive reservoir with strong flow characteristics and helium concentrations that compare favourably with global projects. These outcomes strengthen confidence in the commercial potential of the Ramsay Project and support the company's ongoing development strategy.
The results have reinforced Gold Hydrogen’s plans to accelerate Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) for a helium-focused development while advancing towards maiden Contingent Resources. Independent assessments suggest a commercial project may be viable with as few as two wells, with Ramsay 1 demonstrating that reservoir performance is not the limiting factor. The company will now continue testing at Ramsay 2 and Ramsay 3, including natural hydrogen-bearing zones, to further validate the project's resource potential. With Australia currently reliant on imported helium and global supply remaining constrained, Gold Hydrogen believes the Ramsay Project could play an important role in restoring domestic helium production.
