What Did Brightstar Discover Beneath Sandstone? A Massive Gold Intercept Has Investors Looking Closer

What Did Brightstar Discover Beneath Sandstone? A Massive Gold Intercept Has Investors Looking Closer Source: Kapitales Research

Highlights

  • Brightstar Resources reported a standout gold intercept from deep extensional drilling at the Sandstone Gold Project.
  • The latest drilling has expanded the interpreted thickness of the host tonalite, highlighting additional exploration potential.
  • BTR shares surged 12.50% to AU$0.360 on 3 August.

Brightstar Resources Limited (ASX: BTR) attracted strong investor interest after reporting encouraging assay results from reverse circulation and diamond drilling at the Two Mile Hill-Shillington deposit, part of its 2.9-million-ounce Sandstone Gold Project in Western Australia. The results point to the possibility of a significantly larger mineralised system, while ongoing drilling continues to support future resource growth and underground mining studies.

A Discovery That Could Change the Scale

The latest deep extensional drill hole returned a broad 305.4-metre intercept grading 1.82g/t gold, including several high-grade zones that featured visible gold within the tonalite host rock. Importantly, the drill hole remained within mineralised tonalite at the end of drilling, indicating that the system remains open at depth. The company now believes the host tonalite exceeds 180 metres in horizontal thickness—around three times wider than previously interpreted—potentially increasing the scale of the mineralised zone.

Further infill drilling also delivered broad mineralised intersections, including 205 metres at 2.67g/t gold and 197.7 metres at 1.14g/t gold, reinforcing confidence in the continuity of mineralisation across the deposit. Additional high-grade intercepts within adjacent basalt and banded iron formation units further strengthened the overall exploration outcome.

Advancing Toward Resource Growth

Brightstar noted that the drilling program has two key objectives: upgrading confidence in existing resources to support underground mine planning and testing the eastern boundary of the host tonalite to assess its true size. The company has also appointed Entech to complete the underground pre-feasibility study, while four drilling rigs remain active across the Sandstone project to accelerate exploration.

The Two Mile Hill-Shillington deposit currently hosts a Mineral Resource Estimate of 14.6 million tonnes at 1.6g/t gold for 731,000 ounces. With additional drilling planned and a resource update expected before year-end, Brightstar is positioning itself to unlock further value from one of Western Australia's emerging gold development projects.Note- All data presented is based on information available at the time of writing.Disclaimer for Kapitales ResearchThe materials provided by Kapitales Research, including articles, news, data, reports, opinions, images, charts, and videos ("Content"), are intended for personal, non-commercial use only.
